Q: What is your favorite part about working for Alyce?
My favorite part is working with such a smart, innovative, and collaborative group of people. (Even from the interview process) When I first started here, I was so impressed by how much knowledge every single person had about the business from being in different departments within the organization, And just so much pride everybody had about our business and what we could become. It was just really exciting. So, I would definitely say just the people aspect of it and then having been an employee here for a few months at this point, just how people are so knowledgeable everybody is. Nobody will hesitate to throw in a helping hand if somebody needs it. And I’ve just learned from every single person here. Itâs been very informative and very helpful.
Q: Best advice to give to future Alyce teammates?
I would say for anybody joining the team don’t be afraid to ask questions. I know that sometimes new people join the field, not even at Alyce, but a new company in general and feel like if they ask questions, they’ll be perceived a certain way, which is not the case here. I think that is the best way to learn here at Alyce. And again, everybody’s so forthcoming with information and that’s how you best learn. And then to kind of piggyback on that, I would say, don’t be afraid to throw out an idea that you have, big or small, Whether you think it’s a good idea or a bad idea, that’s kinda how Alyce really started right? Somebody having an idea about something. So everything⌠everything that’s mentioned is valuable and just don’t be afraid to have a voice here because we want to hear from every single person. And everybody’s feedback is valuable.
Q: Whatâs the best gift youâve ever been given?
A year ago, getting a hand painted portrait of my dog was probably my favorite gift because my dog is my world. So I love having a physical representation of him that I can bring with me wherever I go.
Q: Causes you care about?
just in general, supporting women in the workplace. I think we’ve made so many strides in recent decades, centuries obviously, but that’s something that can always be improved upon and just advocating for marginalized groups and underrepresented populations. Be it women, people of color, ect. Especially within the workplace.
Q: Before working at Alyce, what was the most unusual or interesting job youâve ever had?
I think one that was a little bit different was when I was in high school, I worked in a library. So that was cool for just a few reasons. One, a lot of the people that go to libraries are people who are, at least at the one I worked for, people who are older, more senior. So you get to learn their stories and figure out how they got to where they are today. Just the lesson that they passed down to you was really interesting. And then also just from a nerd perspective, I love being able to just have all these cool books at my disposal. Anything from how to live a healthier lifestyle, to a biography about world war two, you know, to so many different things I was able to have at my disposal to help me learn. So from literally doing the job of working there to also just talking to the patrons was a very eye opening interesting experience
